Julia

Overview

Julia is a woman connected to Spike's past in Cowboy Bebop. She knew both Spike and Vicious during their Red Dragon years and disappeared after events linking the three of them. Long blonde hair and black clothing feature in her official design, and Gara Takashima voices her in Japanese. She is not a regular resident of the Bebop, but her absence continues to influence Spike. Mid-series context: hearing Julia's name in Session 12 prompts Spike to leave for Callisto despite Jet's objections. His response shows how information about her can take priority over ordinary bounty work. The earlier relationship between Julia, Spike and Vicious is also part of the conflict between the two men. Late-series setup: in Session 25, Spike learns that Julia is on Mars and being targeted by Vicious. Around the same time, Faye helps a woman being pursued. Fragments of memory and second-hand information begin to connect with the present-day actions of the cast. The outcome after the reunion is not detailed here. This entry uses the licensed English spelling Julia. The Japanese anime site's character image uses JURIA, which refers to the same person. Elena Satine portrays Julia in Netflix's 2021 adaptation, with Takashima returning for the Japanese dub. The live-action expansion of her role should be distinguished from the anime's gradual disclosures. The inspected official profile gives no age or birthday, and neither has been inferred.
