Armin Arlert
アルミン・アルレルト
Armin Arlert is a childhood friend of Eren and Mikasa in Attack on Titan. He introduces Eren to knowledge of the world beyond the walls, helping give direction to their curiosity about it. He worries about his physical weakness and fearfulness, yet learns to turn observation into action. This profile mainly covers his early role. He trains to become a soldier alongside his friends. Rather than standing out through physical or close-combat strength, he demonstrates unusual ideas in classroom work. Intelligence does not make him immune to terror: during the first battle at Trost, he is unable to immediately process surviving as other members of his squad fall around him. When the recruits are stranded by a shortage of gas, he notices the behavior of a Titan that attacks other Titans. Instead of trying to match their strength himself, he proposes directing that creature toward the supply headquarters so that it can clear the surrounding threat. Mikasa and Connie help carry out the idea. The sequence demonstrates how he converts an observation into an actionable plan. The discovery of Eren's Titan form also leaves the three friends threatened by human soldiers. Armin continues to face the situation with his companions despite being unable to overpower their opponents. During the operation to recover Trost, he reaches out to Eren after Eren loses control; his words help bring about the turning point at which Eren begins moving the boulder. That success is not his intellect operating in isolation. Soldiers draw Titans away from Eren at the cost of their lives, enabling the attempt to seal the breach. Armin's role therefore involves more than devising clever solutions: other people must act on and sustain them. His changing relationship with Eren and Mikasa shows someone accustomed to receiving protection beginning to support his friends in a different way. Marina Inoue voices him in the Japanese anime. Eito Konishi plays him in the musical's 2024–2025 Japanese return engagements. Attack on Titan: Junior High retains his intelligence but adds an exaggerated sensitivity to the cold and attachment to his bedding as comic traits. These details belong to the school spin-off rather than the main continuity.
