Overview
Tetsuya Kuroko was the nearly invisible sixth member of Teikō Middle School's legendary Generation of Miracles. At Seirin High, he teams with the explosive newcomer Taiga Kagami to challenge his former teammates and prove that basketball is won by trust as much as individual talent. Kuroko's Basketball is a high-energy school sports anime with stylized plays, evolving rivalries, and a strong team-first core.

Synopsis
Tetsuya Kuroko played for Teikō Middle School's famous Generation of Miracles, but his lack of presence made him a secret sixth player rather than a star. At Seirin High he meets Taiga Kagami, a powerful player returning from the United States. Their contrasting strengths—Kuroko's misdirection and Kagami's athleticism—form the basis of a team determined to face the five elite players who once played with Kuroko. The series builds each match around teamwork, new techniques, and rivalries that test what winning means.
Publication history
The anime adapts Tadatoshi Fujimaki's Shueisha manga, originally serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump. Production I.G produced the television adaptation, which began in 2012 and ran for three seasons. International simulcasting on Crunchyroll helped establish Kuroko's Basketball as the English title. The animated story later continued through the feature film Kuroko's Basketball: Last Game, adapting the Extra Game material.
Creators
Tadatoshi Fujimaki created the original manga. Shunsuke Tada directed the Production I.G television anime, with Noboru Takagi on series composition, Yoko Kikuchi on character design, and Ryosuke Nakanishi on music. The adaptation treats basketball as heightened sports fiction: its signature moves are stylized expressions of real principles such as court vision, speed, passing lanes, and defensive pressure.
Media expansion
The franchise includes the manga, three television seasons, compilation films, the Last Game feature, light novels, stage plays, games, music releases, and merchandise. New viewers can start with the first television season; Last Game belongs after the core series. Official streaming availability can differ by country, so a linked title page is a better guide than general search results.
Behind the scenes
Kuroko's central skill, misdirection, is based on directing attention away from himself rather than overpowering opponents. "Generation of Miracles" is the label for five exceptional former teammates, while Kuroko's position as a sixth member gives the premise its key contrast. The series has a large roster, but the early Seirin team is the best anchor for first-time viewers.
